One rule. Everything else is fine print.
RMSP500 (Retard Maxxing S&P 500) is a long-running public experiment: what happens if you put a fixed amount every month into whatever S&P 500 stock did best last year, and never think about it? It's deliberately dumb, fully mechanical and completely transparent. I trade with my own money, through a regular broker that allows fractional shares.
The kickoff
The project starts with $1,000 on Monday 2 November 2026, bought into 2025's winner. After that it's $100 on the first US trading day of every month. 2025's top performer was SanDisk, but it wasn't in the index for the whole year, so the community votes between SanDisk and Western Digital on the front page.
The rules
The yearly cycle
- STEP 1Every month$100 into the current stock on the first US trading day.
- STEP 2Last trading week of the yearIf there's a new winner, sell the whole position.
- STEP 3First trading day of the new yearReinvest the sale proceeds (minus reserved tax) into the new winner, plus that month's $100.
- STEP 4RepeatFor 10+ years, or until something breaks.
What you can expect
The aim is a monthly video summing up where things stand, the company and the outlook, and shorter updates in between on YouTube and X. Every trade goes into the public transaction log with proof.
The risks (yes, really)
- The whole portfolio sits in a single stock. If that company has a bad year, so does the portfolio.
- Last year's winner often doesn't repeat. This strategy may well do worse than an index fund.
- Currency moves (USD/NOK), fees and taxes all eat into returns.
This documents my own trades. It's not a recommendation for you to do the same. Full disclaimer.
